Improved cyber security: Rational cooking systems are RED 3.3 Compliant
The new software version strengthens the cyber security of the Rational iCombi Pro, iCombi Classic, iVario Pro and iHexagon cooking systems. This makes the global market leader in thermal food preparation compliant with the requirements of the RED 3.3 directive, which came into force across the EU on 1 August 2025.
The Radio Equipment Directive (RED) 3.3 stipulates that radio and network-enabled devices must incorporate robust security measures to safeguard personal data and prevent fraud.
Access to the service level of the cooking systems, for example, is now secured by a multi-level procedure: when a technician scans a QR code on the device display, they receive a numerical code that enables access. In addition, personal data is protected against unauthorised access at all times through encrypted backup and transmission. Users can now also permanently and irrevocably delete their data, including images, individual cooking programs and network settings. This ensures data security at all times.
Since 1 August, new cooking systems have been equipped with the new software version as standard. Existing cooking systems will be offered the new features free of charge via a software update. Cooking systems connected to the ConnectedCooking digital kitchen management system will receive the software update automatically. Users simply need to confirm the download to benefit from the improvements.
Alternatively, software updates can be downloaded from https://www.rational-online.com/en_xx/customercare/downloads/software/ and transferred to the iCombi Pro, iCombi Classic, iHexagon or iVario Pro via a USB flash drive.
