Rieber-connected products help with all types of delivered food service
Kitchen organisation: Using tools we are all familiar with – QR codes, smartphones and apps – Rieber’s CHECK system provides paper-free ‘track and trace’ for the kitchen’s GN pans and delivery boxes. Rieber CHECK turns a standard GN pan into a sustainable, reusable container that cannot get lost.

QR (quick response) codes can be fixed to any GN pans for cooking and assembling meals. Using hand-scanning devices, including smartphones, kitchen staff can assemble and cross-check orders for delivery more quickly and accurately than by hand.
Rieber CHECK means GN pans and containers no longer get lost or mislaid when sending food out for delivery anywhere!
“Introducing sustainable reusables means collecting used GN containers at the next delivery,” says BGL Rieber’s MD, Gareth Newton. “The simple common sense of using stainless steel GN containers instead of single use products appeals to professional caterers. The long-term saving in the cost of disposables, as well as labour savings, reduced handling and efficiency improvements, will more than pay the upfront cost in stocking up with GN pans and trolleys.”
“Rieber’s CHECK Meta catering initiative moves the industry forward. It is a great tool for the food producer, but it can also improve HACCP management anywhere you deliver that food. CHECK is clever because it uses tech we are all familiar with such as QR codes, smartphones, laptops and hand scanners used for shopping.”
Contactless refrigerated meals, meds and vending
Combined with Rieber’s Connect smartphone app, the Multipolar communal fridge provides a vended catering option, offering contactless 24-hour chilled food or medicine pick up.
Ideal for offices, university halls, hospitals and residential blocks in hospitals, an app provides a system for cashless payment and online ordering.
“Combined with microwaves for reheating, Multipolar provides a contactless, 24-hour chilled pick-up point for food and drink orders,” says BGL Rieber MD Gareth Newton. “Food hygiene is guaranteed because the food can be scanned and tracked, which means the caterer can arrange to re-stock the unit at their convenience, possibly even overnight, to avoid congestion or traffic issues.“
Delivering food sustainably
The Rieber “eatTAINABLE” digital reusable food container system uses stainless steel GN containers, non-spill and clear plastic lids, QR code labels, an app, and smartphones.
The eatTAINABLE QR code labels are trackable on a smartphone via Rieber’s CONNECT app.
The system is ideal for retail takeaway because it links the customer to the food using contactless or online payment, which could remove the need for a deposit.
The customer returns the containers, and their obligation is complete when the container scans back into the caterer’s care.

Image 2: The eatTAINABLE system has just been voted winner of the international Green Product Award 2023 in the packaging category. The Award honours the best concepts and implementations of sustainable design products worldwide. Some 1,300 submissions from 40 countries ensured another record of participation in the Green Product and Green Concept Award 2023 sustainability awards, presented in Berlin.
