RATIONAL joins the UN Global Compact and reinforces its commitment to responsible business practices
By joining the United Nations Global Compact, RATIONAL is underlining its commitment to responsible business practices. As a global market leader in thermal food preparation, RATIONAL is taking this voluntary step to further embed key principles relating to human rights, labour standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption into its business practices.
Sustainability has been part of RATIONAL’s corporate philosophy for many years. Guided by the principle ‘We want to be a company that people want to exist’, RATIONAL combines economic success with environmental responsibility and social action. Accordingly, sustainability aspects are considered at all levels and in all areas, from product development and the supply chain to corporate culture.

“We are aware that sustainability is an ongoing process,” says Dr Peter Stadelmann, CEO of RATIONAL AG. “Joining the UN Global Compact is the next logical step for us in further developing our activities in a targeted manner.”
By joining, RATIONAL recognises the ten principles of the UN Global Compact as a binding framework for responsible corporate governance. These cover human rights, labour standards, the environment, and anti-corruption.
For the market leader, this means consistently developing existing ESG activities in line with internationally recognised standards and regularly and transparently disclosing progress as part of the Communication on Progress (CoP). Furthermore, engagement within the global UNGC network provides an opportunity to share knowledge and gain inspiration for the company’s own development.
